Warbler Hike  by Deb Jacobs

The 4th annual Mother's Day Warbler Hike up into the Robert's Hill Conservation Area started early.

There were a dozen or so birders of various experience who gathered at the Dimock Street entrance shortly after 7am.  We heard more birds than we saw.  Black throated blue, black throated green and red eyed vireo were among those sighted in the trek up to the outlook and back.

On the way down we were treated to the sight of a barred owl.  Easily visible to the naked  eye and patiently sitting on a branch, he stayed until each of us had spotted him.  It was a glorious day to be up with the birds.

Weekly Weeding

The "weekly weeding" party at the Mulberry Street Park is happening and will continue throughout the summer and fall.

Volunteer gardeners are gathering at Park to weed, plant, dead-head, and catch up on all the village happenings.

Right now its every other Thursday. And, as always, you are welcome to go over and weed, water and/or plant when ever the spirit moves you.

Once again a big THANK YOU to Rose Pippin up on Front Street.

 It looks great Rose!!

Much thanks for your time and talent.

Memorial Day

The Leeds Memorial Day service was, as usual, short but sweet. It actually started several days before when all the beautiful new flags were installed along Florence and Mulberry Sts.

The Rev. David Whiteley, chaplain from the VAMC in Leeds opened with the invocation and closed with the benediction.  The wreath was placed at the base of the Memorial by two of our Leeds veterans, Earl Meunier (Vietnam War) and Rene (Mac) LeVay (World War II).  This was followed by the canon salute by Norbert Rickie. We ended with Taps played by our bugler this year, Matthew Meunier.

Thanks to all who participated and to all of you who came out in support.

And a special "Thank You" to Red Greene for installing all those flags.  They really looked great and truly dressed up the village for the Memorial Day service.
